Now, I have posted the original of this track before, but if you have no idea who New Navy are, you surely must be living under some indie-less rock. These guys hailing from Sydney have cemented themselves as one of the most prominent Australian indie acts to use tropical elements in their tracks. After gaining notoriety through Triple J Unearthed, the band recently signed a deal with local label Future Classic. Their debut EP, Uluwatu, is out now.
Flume, another FC stable mate, is just a young kid (19, I think). Creating some of the most interesting laidback chillwave styled beats within the electronic scene. Very similar to the style of Baths, but with his own distinct twist. Look out for him in the near future.
The remix is truly something extraordinary, as Flume takes the upbeat tropical nature of the song and turns it into a stripped back chilled out track. It gets you excited for summer.
I don’t post a lot of audio tracks, especially from my own library, but this track is so beautiful. It closes an amazing album by a band that is sadly far too unknown in this country. Amazing melody, echoing vocals and haunting guitar tones send you into a dream like state and will take your mind off anything and everything.
Get on The Morning Benders. They are underrated and unbelievable.
In a huge day of announcements, the guys over at Future entertainment have dropped their lineup for next years festival.
Over the past few years they have slowly been straying away from an all dance lineup, in favour of indie acts, but next year they are returning with a massive dance orientated bill. With some of the biggest dance acts to ever grace your ears, some huge up and comers, a lil bit of hip-hop, plus some indie-dance favourites; Future has pulled out all the stops for 2012. Look out for the next announcement, which has The Strokes and Two Door Cinema Club on the rumour list.
